Why Filter Your Water at the Main Line?
Most of Greater Los Angeles gets tap water disinfected with chloramine, a mix of chlorine and ammonia. The Metropolitan Water District, which supplies imported water to much of Southern California, has used it since 1985, and LADWP and California American Water use it too. It keeps the water safe on its way to your house, but a lot of homeowners don't love what comes with it: a pool-like smell in the shower, a chemical taste in drinking water and coffee, and skin and hair that feel dry.
A whole-house carbon filter goes on your main water line, so every faucet, shower, and appliance gets filtered water, not just the kitchen tap. The key is the right media. Standard carbon handles chlorine well, but it breaks down chloramine slowly and lets it slip through as the filter ages. That's why we install catalytic carbon systems built for chloramine.
Carbon filters don't soften water. If you also see white scale on your fixtures and spots on your dishes, that's hard water, and the fix is a water softener. Many homes pair the two.
Already have a filter that isn't working right? If the chlorine taste is back or your water pressure has dropped, the carbon or cartridges are usually spent, or a valve or bypass needs attention. We service most brands, replace media and cartridges, and tell you honestly when a repair makes sense and when it's time for a new system.
Filtration Systems We Install
Catalytic Carbon Filters
Our go-to for Southern California city water. A whole-house tank filled with catalytic carbon removes chlorine and chloramine, along with many taste and odor issues, from every tap. Each system is sized to your home's water flow, so pressure stays strong.
Sediment & Cartridge Filters
A sediment filter catches sand, rust, and debris before it reaches your fixtures and appliances, and protects the carbon tank downstream. Cartridge housings are a simple option for smaller homes, with filters you change on a set schedule.
Have hard water too? Pair the carbon filter with a water softener. The carbon removes chlorine and chloramine first, which also protects the softener's resin, then the softener removes the minerals that cause scale. Clean, soft water from every faucet.
Trusted Brands We Install
We install whole-house filtration systems from leading brands including SpringWell, Pentair, Culligan, Clack, Fleck, Halo, and Watts. Every system is sized to your home's peak water use, so you get clean water without losing pressure. We handle the full installation, including a bypass valve so the filter can be serviced without shutting off your water. We also install customer-supplied systems, so if you've already bought a filter, we can take it from there.
What To Expect
Every visit starts with a free in-home assessment. We check whether your water supplier uses chlorine or chloramine, test your water hardness and pressure, and look at where your main line enters the house to plan the cleanest installation. If you already have a filter, we diagnose it first and tell you whether it's worth servicing. If your pressure is running high or your water is hard, we'll show you the numbers so you can decide whether to address those too. Most whole-house filter installs are completed in a few hours. Before we leave, we show you how the bypass works and when the filter will need service.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most of Greater Los Angeles uses chloramine. The Metropolitan Water District, which supplies imported water across Southern California, has used it since 1985, and LADWP and California American Water use it too. Your water supplier's annual water quality report lists which one it uses, and we can check for you during the assessment.

If your water has chloramine, yes. Standard carbon removes chlorine well, but it breaks down chloramine slowly, so chloramine can slip through as the filter ages. Catalytic carbon is made for chloramine, which is why it's what we recommend for most Southern California homes.
-
No. Carbon removes chlorine, chloramine, and many taste and odor problems, but it doesn't remove calcium and magnesium, the minerals that cause scale. For hard water you need a water softener, and many homes install both.
-
It depends on your home's size, water use, and plumbing layout. After a free in-home assessment, we give you a flat-rate price for the system that fits, with no surprises. We also install customer-supplied filters if you've already bought one.
-
It depends on the type of system and how much water your household uses. Tank-style carbon filters can go years before the media needs replacing, while cartridge filters need changing more often. We'll tell you what to expect for your system before we leave.
-
No. Carbon filters, including catalytic carbon, don't remove fluoride. If reducing fluoride in your drinking water is important to you, ask us about a point-of-use system for your kitchen.
-
Yes. If the chlorine taste is back or your water pressure has dropped, the media or cartridges are usually spent, or a valve or bypass needs attention. We service most brands, replace media and cartridges, and install customer-supplied systems.
