The pipe that runs from your water meter to your house is your main water line, also called the water service line. The water company owns the meter and everything on the street side of it, but the line on your side belongs to you, and so does the repair when it leaks. In many older Los Angeles homes, that line is galvanized steel or old copper that has been buried for 50 years or more. Galvanized rusts from the inside until the pressure drops and the pipe splits, and older copper can develop pinholes in our hard water. Tree roots, shifting soil, and high street pressure add to the wear. Warning signs include a wet or sunken spot in the yard, water bubbling up near the meter, a meter that keeps spinning with everything turned off, a sudden jump in your water bill, or low pressure throughout the house. We find the leak, show you what we found, and give you honest options: a spot repair or a full line replacement, each with an upfront price.

What We Do
Main Water Line Leak Repair
A wet patch in the yard, water near the meter, or a meter that won't stop spinning. We pinpoint the leak with electronic leak detection, dig only where it's needed, and repair the damaged section in copper or PEX. Most single leaks are fixed in one visit.
Main Water Line Replacement
When the old line keeps leaking or is galvanized, we replace it from the meter to the house with new copper or PEX approved for underground use. We plan the route to protect your landscaping and concrete, handle permits when required, and backfill and clean up when we're done.
Main Shutoff & Pressure Regulator
The valves where the line enters your house matter just as much. We replace stuck or leaking main shutoff valves, install a new pressure regulator when your pressure is too high, and can add a smart water shutoff for leak protection. You'll get a price before we touch anything.
Materials Built to Last Underground
We replace main water lines in copper and in PEX from Uponor and Viega approved for underground water service, with full-port shutoff valves and pressure regulators from Watts, Zurn, and BrassCraft at the house. Copper is the long-proven choice. PEX resists corrosion and scale, flexes with shifting soil, and needs fewer joints underground. We'll explain both and help you choose. Every new line is pressure-tested before it's buried, and we check your water pressure at the house before we leave.
What To Expect
Every main line job starts with finding the real problem. We check your water pressure, test the meter for a hidden leak, and use leak detection to pinpoint where the line is failing. Once you approve the estimate, we shut the water off, dig or open only what's needed, make the repair or run the new line, and pressure-test it before backfilling. Most leak repairs take a few hours. A full main line replacement usually takes one to two days, depending on the length of the line, how deep it is, and what sits on top of it, like concrete or landscaping. We'll walk you through the plan, including any concrete or landscape restoration, before we start, and get your water back on at the end of each day whenever we can.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
In Pasadena and most of Los Angeles, the water company owns the line up to and including the meter, and the property owner owns everything from the meter to the house. If the leak is on the street side of the meter, call your water utility. If it’s on your side, the repair is yours, and that’s exactly what we handle.
-
Turn off every faucet and water-using appliance, then check your water meter. If the dial or leak indicator is still moving, water is escaping somewhere. Other signs include a wet or sunken spot in the yard, water pooling near the meter or foundation, a sudden jump in your water bill, the sound of running water with everything off, or low pressure throughout the house.
-
A single leak on an otherwise healthy copper line can usually be repaired. If the line is galvanized, has leaked more than once, or your pressure is low everywhere in the house, replacing the whole line usually costs less over time than digging it up again and again. We’ll show you what we find and price both options.
-
It depends on the length of the line, how deep it’s buried, and what sits on top of it, like a driveway, walkway, or landscaping. A spot repair costs far less than a full replacement. After a free on-site assessment, we give you a flat, upfront price for each option before any work starts.
-
Yes. We use electronic leak detection to narrow down where the line is failing before we dig, so we only open the spot where the leak actually is. For a full replacement, we plan the route to avoid concrete and mature landscaping wherever possible.
-
Shut off your main shutoff valve where the water line enters the house. If the break is between the meter and that valve, the water has to be shut off at the meter, so call your water utility or call us. Once the water is off, we’ll find the break and give you options to repair it or replace the line.
